ClayTech firefighting pump for this Summer season

ClayTech launched its new firefighting pump this week, as governments bring forward the official start of the bushfire season by almost 30 days, earlier this month.

National Sales Manager Gary Carlaw, believes the pump is a timely and important purchase for anyone wanting to protect their home and property this fire season.

“With a maximum flow rate of 390 Litres per minute, the ClayTech firefighting pump gives residents choosing to stay and protect their homes, greater volume and pressure from their tank, in the event of a bushfire,” said Mr Carlaw.

“The pump can also be fitted with a connection to allow firefighters to access the water with their pumps, should your home become endangered and need protection,” he said.

The new pump features Honda powered reliability for increased home protection and firefighting capabilites, and comes amid Fire and Rescue Services urging residents to decide early whether to fight or flee, should fire threaten their property.

“Dry air, strong winds and hot temperatures add up to mean a high fire danger, or, in this case, it will actually tip in to the ‘extreme’ category,” said Queensland Fire and Rescue Service’s regional manager of rural operations Ewan Cayzer of conditions in the Gold Coast hinterland over the weekend.

Alma's Innovative Dig Dewatering Pump

Multinational pump manufacturer the Grundfos Group through its new division, the DWT Group, has launched a number of new products in the Australasian market. One of these products is Alma Pumps that is proudly distributed by ClayTech Pumps. Managing Director, Mike Thompson, is excited to promote a quality product such as Alma Pumps into the diverse Australasian market. He stated “Alma Pumps fits strategically into the professional service we provide into the waste water treatment and dewatering industries. It also compliments the other products supplied by the DWT Group in Leader Pumps and WaCS Electronics. We look forward to developing a long term reputation in the professional market place.”

Mr Thompson says that Alma Pumps specialises in the manufacture of drainage, dewatering and wastewater pumps. The experience in these areas will allow marketing across various Industries including Mining, Municipal Councils, Commercial and Domestic.

One of the market leaders across the world is Alma’s high-performance dewatering pump, the Dig. One of the innovative patented features of this pump is that of a steel cable, which is encased as one of the cores of the pump's power cable, completely insulated and an integral part of the cable. This gives the power cable the strength to allow users to pull the pump out of water by the cable, which is common practice, but usually damages the pump's cable.

WaterClear – The biodegradable water management solution

Control of aquatic weed species within waterbodies can often prove to be a challenge, but a citrus-based product, now readily available in the marketplace, WaterClear, is proving to be an effective tool for management.

WaterClear is a citrus-based solution used for control of the common aquatic weeds:

  • Duckweed (Lemna minor)
  • Red Azolla (Azolla filiculoides)
  • Salvinia (Salvinia molesta)

How it works

WaterClear, once applied to area inhabited by the aquatic weed, influences the characteristics of the water (i.e. the surface tension), causing the plants to sink below the surface, and ultimately drown.

A readily-biodegradable* formulation, WaterClear is a nationally registered** and recognised control agent, and comes in two sizes – 500ml and 20L.

The management guide, Noxious & Environmental Weed Control Handbook – A Guide to Weed Control in Non-Crop, Aquatic and Bushland Situations (produced by the NSW Department of Primary Industries) lists WaterClear as a nominated registered control method.

Note:
*Biodegradable to Australian Standard AS 4351.2
**Australian Pesticides & Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) Registration No. 47864.
